I’ve been spending way too much idle time glancing at Facebook posts of all the salmon being caught out in Sekiu. Ahhh! It’s killing me to not be back out there. We had an epic time though on the opener and it sounds like it has been absolutely packed with people since then. This report is about what’s going on closer to home though, so let’s dig in!
Sekiu (pronounced CQ) has been on fire since it opened on July 1st, 2020. My friend who went fishing with me on the opener said it was the best salmon fishing he’s ever experienced.
I’m seeing multiple people with full limits by 9 am in the morning. That’s 6 kings for 3 people by 9 am…
Fishing for bottom fish out of Sekiu in May is an incredible experience every Washington angler should have. Ling cod, Cabazon, Rockfish, Seabass, and Halibut are all on the menu.
