For some, spring is marked by the beginning of baseball season, but for many fishy folks, it’s all about ocean bottomfishing opening up!
And that time is this coming weekend, Saturday, March 9th.
I’ve got so many resources for you to consider to get all caught up on ocean bottomfishing prep and ideas in this blog post that we have to get right to it.

With a 2023 salmon season management approach favoring the ocean and a robust forecast of chinook and coho headed for the Columbia River, the almost perfect set of conditions have been created to produce one of the most epic salmon fishing opportunities out of Westport, WA in recent memory.

Lingcod fishing during our May 2022 Neah Bay fishing was incredible and I caught the biggest lingcod of my life weighing in at 38 lbs!

The above photo is from a recent trip out of Westport, WA in April 2022. We had incredible weather and easy limits of bottom fish such as black rockfish and ling cod within a few hours of fishing!

Tracking all of the news and developments as the 2022 Washington Coast Salmon Season takes shape through the North of Falcon process and eventually becomes our season for fishing the Washington Coast (Marine Areas 1 -4) for Salmon.

The Washington Coast Salmon Forecast for 2022 has been released and we have some idea what to expect in terms of the season-setting process.

The Ocean / WA Coast opens up for rockfish and lingcod fishing in the 2nd weekend of March and I plan to be ready for it!

The city of Westport recently shut down all hotels, vacation rentals, and ways for non-residents to stay in an effort to keep people away and stop the spread.
